By car
Grundarfjörður is a little over two hour drive from Reykjavík. If going by car, take the Vesturlandsvegur out of Reykjavík. Head toward a tunnel that goes under the sea called Hvalfjarðargöng. From there, follow signs to Borgarnes. Follow signs to Stykkishólmur, continuing in that direction until a signs appears which will guide you to Grundarfjörður.
By bus
In the wintertime there is no bus to/from Grundarfjörður on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mondays and Fridays
From Mjódd, Bus 57, at 7:45 and 17:30
(You will arrive in Grundarfjörður at 10:45 and 20:30)
Wednesdays and Saturdays
From Mjódd, Bus 57, at 17:30
(Arrive in Grundarjörður at 20:30)
Sundays
Bus 57 is now at BSI at 8:40 (instead of Bus 3)
From Mjódd the Bus 57 is at 9:00 and 17:30
(Arrive in Grundarfjörður at 12:00 and 20:30)
Bus 57 will take you to Borgarnes and there you go on bus 58 who will go to Stykkishólmur, but you will change buses at Vatnaleið and go on bus 82 who will take you to Grundarfjörður. It may sound complicated but it really is not, and the bus drivers are very helpful, do not hesitate to ask them for help.
From Reykjavík to Grundarfjörður the price is 4000,-isk for pers.
But you can buy a Bus tickets at BSI and in Mjódd and than it is less than 4000,-isk
