Each year the festival invites one foreign or local guest judge and/or speaker. Past years judges include the four time Oscar winner, Mark Berger, french director Romain Gavras, the Bafta winning editor Valdís Óskarsdóttir (The eternal sunshine of the spotless mind) and many more. The NW2016 jury has yet to be confirmed.

Ottó is an independent script writer with fifteen years of experience in the Icelandic film industry. He’s written and developed numerous Icelandic and international feature films and documentaries.


Monica Lee Bellais

Monica Lee Bellais is an American screenwriter/producer and global media expert. She worked at James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, DreamWorks, Warner Bros. Records, Discovery Communications, Smithsonian Networks, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and TeleProductions International (TPI). She serves on the Advisory Boards for Women in Film & Video (WIFV), the Council on International Non-Theatrical Events (CINE) and on the DOUBLE EXPOSURE: Investigative Film Festival and Symposium, which highlights investigative journalism in film. Monica has worked with filmmakers and production companies in Albania, Canada, Egypt, France, Japan, Italy, Lebanon, Monaco, Pakistan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.


 Edda Björgvinsdóttir
Edda Björvinsdóttir is one of Icelands most beloved actresses and comedian. She got raving reviews from her performance in “Under the tree” that premiered at the last Venice International film festival, where she shows a new side of her in an extremely dramatic role.
She is an actress and writer, known for When the Raven Flies (1984), Stella í orlofi, Stella í framboði (2002) and Undir trénu (2017)
